Scarab is a robot that uses touch sensors to detect and navigate around obstacles. When it detects an object it performs a two-step maneuver to avoid the obstacle. The scarab can be configured with different sets of movements and is capable of a right turn, left turn, reverse, forward and stop. Two sets of legs come with this kit: wheels which are great for moving along level surfaces and walking legs which are more suited to uneven terrain.
- soldering required
- finished robot requires four AAA batteries to run
This kit is an excellent learning tool for those who wish to understand how simple electronic sensors and circuits can be combined to elicit seemingly complex movements. Kit building experience and soldering skills are strongly recommended. This is an intermediate robotics kit.
