Description
Coomassie Blue R Gel is a stain used on proteins in agarose gel electrophoresis. So if you’re looking at nearly transparent protein gels, through your microscope, this is a stain you’ll want to have on hand.
Prepare the solution by combining 10ml of concentrated stain to 1 liter of Coomassie Blue R Gel with 440ml of methanol, 480 ml of distilled water, and 80ml of glacial acetic acid. As the Coomassie Blue R Gel is insoluble in water, it is best to add the methanol first. The staining reagent can be stable for several months, if it is tightly capped at room temperature.
