The Universal Piggyback Mount allows you to mount your DSLR onto your Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope (NexStar 5SE, 6SE, or 8SE), for wide field photography. The piggyback bracket is a simple astronomical accessory that gives you another way to use your telescope for photography. The bracket seats your camera on the top and rear of your telescope tube. When your telescope is running with the camera attached, you can take longer exposures without star trails, and capture details in objects that would have been impossible had your camera been attached to a photographic tripod or a telescope without a drive system.
It should be noted that using an equatorial mount, especially one that is polar aligned, will greatly improve performance for long exposure photography compared to a alt-azimuth mount. Camera lenses with the lowest apertures tend to be the best to use this way, as the wider apertures capture more light in a shorter amount of time.
